Commodity Jurisdiction
A Commodity Jurisdiction (CJ) determination is identifying the correct government agency holding jurisdictional control of exported items. A CJ determination must be made for all items including hardware, software, technology, or services. Copper Hill can assist with internal CJ reviews and draft CJ determination requests for submission to the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls of the US Department of State.
Classification
Copper Hill has a team of experienced export classifiers ready to assist with classification under US and non-US export control lists; including but not limited to the EAR, USML, EU ECN, and UK ECN. We are prepared to classify hardware, software, and technical data all in short term or long-term projects. Additionally, Copper Hill can also prepare and assist with submission of Commodity Classification Automated Tracking System (CCATS) requests for government classification.
Screening
Screening all customers, suppliers, and end-users is a key component of any export compliance program. Our Export Control Compliance team can help your business screen your contacts against the various Restricted Parties Lists (RPL) and disposition potential matches. We also offer screening focused on the Office of Foreign Assets Control’s (OFAC) ownership rules, red flag/diversion risk, antiboycott, and embargoed and sanctioned countries.
Licensing
Did you know that some goods, software, and technology require licenses before a shipment can be made? Even those items not on the Commerce Control List and designated EAR99 may require a license depending on the destination, end user, or end use of the item. Our dedicated team can assist in reviewing the license requirements for your export. This review can include license exceptions, end-user rules, and preparing and submitting license applications.
